Confession Time: I bought What Happens on Vacation solely for the cover not knowing it was Book 4 of a spin-off series of dozens of books spanning 20+ years! š¤Æ The Westmoreland/Outlaw legacies are VAST but that just shows you the genius that is Brenda Jackson in that she can craft this story full of history/characters and a brand new reader can jump in and have a hell of a good time. šš¼
I was all in for the two leads, Paige and Jess, the moment I read that they had a spark-filled first meeting SIX years prior and even though they didnāt act on it at the time, they still carried that attraction for all those years afterward. My guy Jess was NOT letting this second chance go by again. And while their relationship starts out as a fake dating scenario, it doesnāt take long for things to get real.
And yāall, if you know me then you know I LOVE a good romance villain, ESPECIALLY, when said villain gets their due. When I say that the villain in this one GETS THEIR DUE??? I was straight up CACKLING. šš
This is a sort-of-second chance romance with some fake dating, a little social media revenge, and plenty of āletās make up for the last six years and have sex in every possible locationā sex, aka the perfect weekend read.
