February Reading Wrap-Up

Hey, y’all! Can you believe we’re in March already? MARCH.

Another month of 2023 is in the books! I love this time of year right before Spring. Truthfully, since moving to Connecticut, Fall is my favorite season, but there’s something about the end of Winter that I find calming. Everything is still kind of shut down and I love when you can see those few shoots of grass peeking through the hard, grey ground. It’s the promise of Something New. Something is Coming. Anticipation and all that. For me, with Newness Approaching, it’s a great time for self-reflection and taking it easy before we hit the days of Being Busy again. Emma is the perfect book for this mindset. I mention this below, but this is the time of year when I re-read Emma. I love seeing her grow and change throughout, going from someone who has “very little to distress or vex her” to someone who is VERY unsure of herself, her place in society, and of course with Mr. Knightley. Do re-read books annually? I find comfort in knowing that each season of the year, I’m going to revisit old friends, and the first is always Emma.

Let’s chat about the February Wrap-Up:

February was another busy month here at Which Was Better! During this month of love, there were:

Also in this wrap-up are:

Tell me, what did you read this past month? And what are you looking forward to reading in March?

Books Read this Month

Twilight

★★★★☆

This re-read was just as fun as the first time I read this back in 2008. I found myself still obsessed with Bella’s independence and how this book captured the angst of teenage relationships. Plus vampires! Who doesn’t love a story about vampires?

Sweeter than chocolate

★★★★☆

This could have easily slipped into a “Save the Shop” book but it didn’t. On the surface, we are told this story is about Lucy wanting to preserve her family’s legacy and Dean trying to secure his dream job, but in the end, it’s about them taking chances in life and with one another. And pining. So much pining. I’m such a sucker for people fighting their feelings for one another.

His Until Midnight

★★★★★

Friends to Lovers where BOTH have been secretly in love with each other for YEARS? Yes, please and thank you!

new moon

★★★☆☆

It took me ages to get through this re-read. I used to think this was my favorite of the series and this time? Yeah…no. Bella is the worst. Edward is terrible. And Jacob can kick rocks even though I might’ve been a bit Team Jacob for like a 100 pages on this re-read. Now? I’m Team Bella You Don’t Need Either of These Fools.

a Cowboy kind of thing

★★★★☆

Y’all, Category Romances are DOING IT for me right now. And this one? With two stubborn people who are fighting their attraction to one another while living IN THE SAME HOUSE??

HERE FOR IT.

Emma

★★★★★

No formal review on this one because it’s an annual re-read for me. I love to read Emma just as the cold days are becoming mild and Spring is around the corner. It’s a time for self-reflecting and rebirth, just like our dear Emma.
